The wine opens up with some lovely varietal characters of pepper and spice. Flavours open up of rhubarb, red currant, cherry, fruit cake and vanilla bean. A lovely fine tannin structure holds everything in place nicely and the balance between alcohol and residual sugar is spot on. Nothing is excessive.
Overall the wine has lovely finesse, has an attractive perfume, lovely clean spirit and shows an elegant touch of oak. Cellaring potential to 20 years.
